Listening to your podcast where you got a tip on the scurity now discussing the troubled protocol (or rather broken protocol, WPS. The issue has been discussed over several episodes, and episode 337 is the deep tecnical episode on the matter.
Your discussion kind of missed the point:
    1. To comply with the WI-Fi Alliance partnes spec, WPS must be enabeled by default. Your suggestion to turn it of is valid and good, if it is possible.
    2. If you have a Linksys, you can’t turn it off! (Quote from the podcast: If you have a Linksys, all you can do is keep checking to see if there’s a firmware update. And for the rest of us, just turn off WPS. If you can is the point. Now, Linksys will make you think you can because there’s a checkbox. But it ignores it.

So disabeling is not good enough if you have a linksys!!

I would like to thonk you for the great work you do year after year. But I must make one more comment about a utility that can save the day, and that has done so for me, and that is Spirite. With a failing drive, there is always a risk that the drive will not survive, but you have told stories from your consulting where you gave up on a harddrive without testing Spinrite! That is to me NOT taking care of the customer. Spinrite are licensed with a 30-day absolute satisfaction guarantee. So what is there to loose, when you have given up? I would also recomend episode 336 of security now to get a basic understanding of how the product works, and why. You have made me try Crystal disk info also, but that will not fix or prevent anything. Spinrite can actually prevent problems!
