    Mike,

I’ve long used ExplorerXP as a File Manager alternative. Its something I recall being mentioned on “The Screen Savers” a ways back and have used it ever since.

ExplorerXP gives you some handy features such as the display of folder sizes, a multi-file rename utility, a Tabbed Interface and a Group view which lets you essentially create shortcuts to commonly used directories (which is great for project work). It also includes buttons on top for quick access to My Computer, My Documents and the Desktop.

Its a small single executable which makes it really handy to keep on a USB stick too.

It can be found at: http://www.explorerxp.com

I’d like to add a vote for Total Commander. It’s not free but it’s not expensive either, and I’ve used it regularly for about 11 years since I was pointed to it by a friend. With built in FTP, multiple pack/unpack formats, simply editing features and synchronisation capabilities it saves me loading up individual tools all day!

Just discovered your show – it is awsome! I have no idea how you find the time.

I did find a win32 port of mc http://homepages.compuserve.de/SiegwardJaekel/mc-gb.htm it seems to work OK, still poking around.

Anyhow – I am hooked on MTS now – well done and keep it up.

I would be honoured if you’d pop in and check out my blog at nerds-central.blogspot.com

    Best Wishes
