Regarding running users as users and not administrators: Microsoft recommended doing this back in 1992 when NT 3.1 was released. A standard install of NT 3.1 through 3.51 would automatically create an administrator account and suggest the creation of a standard user account to use. As users were not accustomed to having to log in to an administrator account to add software, hardware drivers, and make settings changes, Microsoft relaxed their stance. Unix and Linux users have long ago adjusted to running as a standard user and only using the root login to make changes and then log back out quickly.
Even if a user needs to run one (or several) program(s) as a local administrator, Windows allows programs to be run “as administrator” on a per program basis, so it should never be necessary to allow a user’s login to be part of the administrator’s group.
I was listening to this show today and heard what you mentioned about IE 11 not working for what people in the financial industry use. I went to a windows 8.1 training yesterday put on by microsoft. It was mentioned that IE 11 has an enterprise mode available that when enabled will make IE behave just like IE version 8 in windows 8.1 and windows 7. It is supposed to make websites work that were designed to work with IE 8 that don’t work in IE 11 or in compatibility mode.

Just a note about Adblock, sometimes it will block video content when there are an ad before it on some websites, so it’s important to tell the client that they can add specific websites or pages to the white list, otherwise it might end up with a support call because the client can’t see a video he/she can see on another computer.
