    Interesting comment on the archive/journalling functionality. I don’t think the native journaling functionality with exchange enables you to archive to more than one location (although I could be wrong – it would be interesting to see how you do this to more than one location).
    I do know that you could do some extra journalling but this typically requires the enhanced exchange cal rather than the standard one that comes with sbs.

    I have one company that was meant to be receiving our journalling email (and allegedly reporting on emails that violate financial security issues) and it took them 9 months to tell us that they were not receiving the emails – makes me wonder what sort of monitoring they were doing if it takes them 9 months to realise no email is coming in…

    Out of interest did you run the SBS BPA and Microsoft IT Environment Health Scanner http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=dd7a00df-1a5b-4fb6-a8a6-657a7968bd11 on the original server before you started the migration? Both of these should help mitigate some of the pitfalls you might have with migration.

    I have done many migrations and every single one presents some unbelievably stressful problems. Out of 4 migrations we have used Microsoft Support twice on issues that we didn’t cause, one of them was NTFRS switched off like yourselves.
    This podcast was like multiple deja vu, I dread every new migration.

    Great show again, Mike. But I wish you would define your terms, especially for your overseas listeners. What on earth is a hoagie!?

  4. Winston Wolf says:

    @Andy
    Yup SBS BPA was run as part of the prep work for Microsoft.
