Excel answer from Rob – “Open Excel and go to Tools > Options > General and de-select “Ignore Other Applications”. This allows you to open spreadsheets from outside of Excel. Apparently this option is available to allow control of how Excel interacts with other programs via Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE). Here are a couple of links that give further info on DDE:”

    NetLimiter is a bit more than just a monitoring tool.
    It does bandwidth shaphing per application as example, which is a very nice feature you don’t want to miss if you have bandwidth limitations.
